any one heard of Procerin? how does it compare to propecia/rogain? other medications?

I have encountered the male pattern baldness for 10 years. I have been taken Propecia for 7 years plus 5% minosidil with daily used. I agree, if someone is loosing their hair, letting it grow long, scruffy and straggly just is not a good look for a guy. My hubby has been bald for the past 15 years and he keeps it cut really short and I like it that way. I even like the shaved head look.

The media makes it seem like that if you’re going bald you MUST do something about it or you will fail at life. Sure, looks are a plus, but it’s not like bald men are some kind of deformity. I’m 17 and I’ve noticed my hair is thinning in the crown area. My dad starting going bald young, so I’m afraid the same thing may happen to me. This worried me alot at 1st, but now I’m thinkin’ if I go bald I’m going bald gracefully. Cause after all, everyone has people that look up to you, and if they have the same problem you want them to say, "Well he’s bald but he still has all the confidence in the world". So more power to everyone who is losing their hair but having the confidence in themselfs to accept it and not fall for the media’s tricks . Just look at people like Jason Stathom and Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins :p

You’re right. The way a person looks is not what is important.Being bald is not going to take away from you’re character and if anything will add to it just because some (idiotic) people DO look down on balding men.

No. Neither of these things happens to all men and women. My hips are still the same size they were in HS.

My hair in the front is starting to thin like crazy and I have noticed that some men will grow their hair longer to keep the bald area covered up. Others will shave it off or cut it really short in a buzz cut to make it less noticeable.

Combed it straight forward to hide the bald area

Grew it longer to hide the bald area

my hair is thinning right above my forehead in the middle. It is also thinning on the right side of my head in one little spot. I am in the process of growing it out in hopes it will conceal the thinning. It isnt noticable very much but whenever i put it to direct light or look in the mirror i can see it. My hairline is also receding. I am going to grow mine out. I think if you grow it out it will get overlapped with hair. I think the hair will disguise it for the most part if not fully. But if you do wind up having it cut short or whatever, keep in mind you are you regardless and not your hair, thats what i keep telling myself. Best bet is to turn the volume up on your personality and be cooler than everyone under every and any circumstance. Thats what im a do when the day comes. Whether its tomorrow or twenty years. I have friend that has struggled with his thinning hair for many years. He has tried to many things to remedy his genetic problem.

But for the past few years he has sprayed on this black spray that gives the illusion of a fuller head of hair. This prevents him from many activities that he used to enjoy such as swimming and other water sports. His look also discourages him from going to public places quite often.

This so-called "spray on hair" does give an impressive illusion, but it’s not the same as having a nice full head of hair that every young man should enjoy.

What alternatives does he have other then slapping on a wig or costly hair plugs?

Tell him to just shave it all. Bald is cool and It is hip.. Just go with it and quit fighting it. Lot`s of women LIKE bald guys. And did you know that bald guys have more testosterone (male hormone) than guys with full heads of hair..

Just beam with confidence, walk up and smile really nicely.. Bald guys are cute as can be to many many women.. Get into it and dig it..

And PLEASE GUYS, DON`T DO THAT COMB OVER STUFF. IT LOOKS HORRIBLE AND YOU AREN`T FOOLING ANYONE

i have suddenly got thin spots all though my hair i have no real family history of hair loss and the thinning stared about a month ago a has just gotten worse in the last few weeks! i had a allergic reaction to bug spary about the time it started can this be the cause?

There are many things that can cause your hair to thin. If I were you, I’d see a doctor to rule out any illnesses or environmental factors that could be the cause.

One major cause of hair loss is male pattern baldness. You say there is no family history, but do you know that you get it from your mother? It starts in your twenties. If that is the case, there is not much you can do except maybe have hair transplants.

If all else fails, the bald look is hot!

You could try Rogaine. Also have a healthy diet and lifestyle.

maybe a old caveman trait to address noticeable differences and better attract a mate ?

making up for the loss on top of the head by growing them under his chin/?

Do any men or women know any hair products that actually work to stop hair thinning and receding hairline in men?

You can take things like Rogain or Propiecia (?sp on both), but they are only effective as long as you use them. You can try doing things like massaging your scalp to stimulate the hair follicle, but mostly there isn’t really anything you can that will have any permanent results – aside from surgery.
